Among the Lowest Pricing in the Country
As predicted, our parcel of Cedric Bouchard Val Vilaine flew. So for those of you who bought that yesterday, we say happy holidays and share with you a few choice bottles of his other wines from that same small parcel...
Since this one-man operation barely makes 500 cases in a year, the availability of these on the mainstream market is tiny.
Each of the below wines is from a single vineyard, a single vintage and a single varietal. More specific notes from Antonio Galloni of The Wine Advocate and Peter Liem of The Champagne Guide are below, and these are truly some of the most explosive, detailed, terroir-expressive Champagnes in existence right now - fantastic indications of the heights this great region can achieve.
There are only a handful of each wine available today, and these will go quickly. Need we remind you of Galloni's words? These are "some of the most compelling wines coming out of the region today. Readers should do whatever they can to experience these magnificent wines."
Please give us your maximum order, and we will allocate as fairly as possible. To place your order, please reply to this email or call the store at (212) 980-9463.

2008 Roses de Jeanne Les Ursules Brut Blanc de Noirs

Galloni: Bouchard’s 2008 Roses de Jeanne Coteaux Champenois Les Ursules possesses an additional dimension of clarity, precision and delineation over the 2009. There is a crystalline purity to this wine that is simply hard to believe.
Liem: The original Roses de Jeanne wine is Les Ursules, which is a blanc de noirs from a relatively flat vineyard of the same name, located down the street from Bouchard’s cellars in Celles-sur-Ource. It covers 90.51 ares, with most of the vines planted in 1974, and the average production is about 2,800 bottles a year. [...] Les Ursules is likely to be the wine most representative of the estate: concentrated and intense in flavor without being weighty, it combines depth, complexity and poise. Its ripe fruit aromas are a testament to Bouchard's viticultural practices, but so is the elegantly smoky, almost flinty minerality that consistently appears in this wine.
2006 Roses de Jeanne Les Ursules Brut Blanc de Noirs (1.5L)
Special Email Bottle Price: $249.95
Compare at $299
Galloni: The explosive bouquet recalls the boisterous, super-rich 2002, but then the wine turns quite a bit more linear on the palate, with a layers of minerality that invite a comparison with the shy, introspective 2005. The development in the glass is nothing short of spectacular. Over time, the mousse becomes imperceptibly fine as the bubbles virtually disappear, revealing a moving, intensely satisfying wine. Hints of Mirabelle plums, red berries, mint, spices and flowers linger on the sublime finish. This is a magnificent, towering Champagne from Cedric Bouchard. A small number of magnums will go on sale later in 2010. Readers should do whatever they can to snap them up. Although the 2006 will only get better in bottle I frankly find it impossible not to drink today.
2006 Roses de Jeanne La Bolorée Brut Blanc de Blancs
Special Email Bottle Price: $119.95
Compare at $129-135
Liem: Pinot blanc is relatively rare in Champagne, and even more so when it's made from 40-year old vines. This is one of the most highly original champagnes that there is. From a 21-acre parcel on chalk called La Bolorée, which contains pinot blanc vines planted in 1960. This south-facing vineyard is technically in the neighboring commune of Merrey-sur-Arce.
2003 Inflorescence La Parcelle Brut Blanc de Noirs
Special Email Bottle Price: $75.95
Compare at $89
Liem: "La Parcelle is a 50-acre, southwest-facing parcel of pinot noir in Celles-sur-Ource." NOTE: The 03 tasting notes have not been published, but Liem wrote of the inaugurual 01: "While it’s 100-percent pinot noir, it carries itself with an airy, filigreed deftness, feeling ethereal and weightless on the palate while delivering a poignant and expressive intensity of flavor."
