Pierre Peters has a nearly unparalleled mastery of the Côte des Blancs.
The wines flaunt incredible refinement and mineral-inflected elegance.

Today, I'm excited to present two rarely offered Pierre Peters cuvées, 2017 Montjolys and 2018 L'Etonnant Monsieur Victor.
Montjolys can be viewed as a bookend to Peters' Chétillons. Montjolys is on the same slope as Chétillons but is an entirely different expression. Whereas Chétillons' very chalky soils produce champagnes of high-tension acidity and piercing minerality, Montjolys has more clay, and its wines are looser knit and more expansive.
Compared to Chétillons, I really appreciate Montjolys' out-of-the-gate accessibility. It's a wine that's much easier to understand in its youth, especially in the 2017 vintage. There's a citrus-inflected radiance that's complicated by stone fruits, subtle spice notes, and floral notes. Overall, the wine is animated by a finely calibrated harmony.
L'Etonnant Monsieur Victor is another point of contrast in Peters' lineup. With this Cuvée, Peters departs from the focus on single vineyard, single vintage that has dominated grower champagnes. L'Etonnant Monsieur Victor is a multivintage cuvée that is intended to be at the top of Peters' hierarchy.
This cuvée is a special selection from the great Chétillons vineyard from a single vintage that's blended with the best barrels from a perpetual cuvée that goes back to 1988. This is the same perpetual cuvée from which Oubliée is sourced.
L'Etonnant Monsieur is a wonderfully intricate wine. It's deep and powerful and brought into a silky weave of herbs, citrus, and minerality. The champagne packs an incredible amount of nuance.
Both of these champagnes are simply dazzling examples of one of the greatest and time-tested growers. This is the first time that we've been able to do an email offer on these. Quantities are very limited.
