Along with Ramonet, Domaine Michel Niellon is one of Chassagne's historic estates.
There's no way around the fact that Niellon's Chevalier and Bâtard are heavy hitters. They are among the most epic white Burgundies around.
For me, though, the smart money is on Niellon's 1er Crus. It's really difficult to think of another time-tested Burgundy producer who delivers this much value. When you hit a great vintage like 2019, Niellon's 1er Crus have a lot to offer.
Niellon's signature is a combination of weight, depth, and saturating presence on the palate, with a strong streak of minerality. The wines really shine in 2019. It's a stunning vintage and Niellon capitalized on its concentration, harmony, and clarity.
The 2019 Clos de la Maltroie flaunts a lifted high-toned citrus profile. It is beautifully clear with explosive layers of stone fruits, spice, and wet stone. The overall impression is one of refinement and mineral persistence.
I'm very happy to offer this at such sharp pricing. Niellon really nailed the vintage. Don't miss.

Burghound: "An overtly floral-suffused nose reveals additional notes of poached pear and crushed dried herbs. The caressing middle weight flavors are finer though not necessarily denser while exhibiting solid length on the balanced finale. This also needs more depth, but it should be capable of that by the time its fully mature."
