Chenin Holy Ground
2012 Collier Saumur Blanc
& Saumur Blanc Charpentrie

Brézé has enjoyed centuries and centuries of fame. Its clay and limestone soils produce wines of shocking class, ageability and vividness.

It was here that in 1999 at 26 years old, Antoine Foucault focused his energies.

He was young, for sure, but he knew Saumur like the back of his hand and immediately went after top terroir and old vines. His family's domaine is Clos Rougeard, so his knowledge was extensive.

There's no doubt that he chose well. Collier's wines became some of the most talked about bottles of the Loire. They have a Burgundian-like regal elegance matched to a brilliance of expression.

Both Chenins are riveting. They deliver richness and impact married to class, precision and a nuanced delicacy. As you might guess, the Charpentrie boasts more density and complexity due to its old vine origins. The Saumur Blanc is a serious bottle that crackles across the palate with mineral elegance.

Collier's wines almost immediately gained a cult following in France for their level of depth and sophistication. Word quickly spread and Collier has become intensely allocated and hard to find in the U.S. Please give us your ideal order and we'll try our best.
