Huet is one of France's most historic and iconic domaines.

We've had so many profound old bottles that the domaine has become one of our absolute favorites. You'd struggle to find another Chenin producer with a track record as illustrious.

Needless to say, we were really excited when we had the opportunity to taste some of Huets 2015s. As soon as we tasted them, it became clear why the people at Huet and many others were so excited about the 2015s. The wines are electric, penetrating and multifaceted.

Both the 2015 Bourg and Le Mont Demi-Sec show the concentration, clarity and class that makes 2015 such an impressive vintage for Huet. 2015 was a warm vintage for the Loire, but tasting the brilliance and verve of Huet's 2015s makes clear just how well they judged the vintage. The wines are very compelling.

Le Mont's trademark is striking elegance and detailed minerality. The 2015 delivers rich notes of apricot, quince, citrus and honey, balanced by a chalky mineral streak and ultra-fine acidity. For all of its density, there’s incredible lift and precision. With age, Le Mont shows even more length, finesse and perfumed aromatics.

Compared to Le Mont, Le Bourg produces wines of greater power, texture and depth. In 2015, Le Bourg’s intensity is well matched by tension and energy. The palate is opulent and bright, full of stone fruits and candied citrus, with a subtle underlying minerality. There’s a firm acid backbone that promises graceful longevity.

Huet’s wines are some of the most riveting, long-lived expressions of Chenin Blanc. For us, the Le Mont and Bourg Demi-Secs are consistently the high points of the line-up. In their youth, Huet’s Demi-Secs are vibrant, bright and seductive in their texture and tension. But given a decade or so they transform gloriously, gaining even more complexity and fascination.
