Classicism On Display:
2013 Conti Costanti Brunello di Montalcino

Posted by Ian McFadden

When it comes to deeply traditional and well-priced Brunello, it doesn't get much better than Costanti.

As one of the great traditionalists of the region, Costanti’s Brunellos are the real deal. The wines are muscular and simultaneously elegant. Simply put, they're compelling.

Costanti's style synced up perfectly with 2013. Costanti is all about a pristine, slow-to-evolve, expression of Brunello. The 2013 vintage turned out utterly classic Brunellos. Costanti thrived in the vintage.

Their 2013 Brunello has the brightness and clarity of the vintage. It’s backed by verve and serious length. There’s a dazzling range of seductive aromatics, followed by a whirlwind of dark cherry, smoke, and leather. All of this is delivered with elegance, precision, and focus.

Costanti makes Brunello's exactly how I like them. There's power for sure, but they are much more about elegance and explosive aromatics. The wines age beautifully. I've had plenty of bottles with twenty years that have been really impressive.

The 2013 is drinking beautifully now, but is still holding plenty in reserve. I'm very excited to offer this.
