Schäfer-Fröhlich produces some of the greatest expressions of Riesling.

There is a strong case to be made that the Nahe reigned supreme in 2022. These are wines with some of the structure of 2021 yet with an uncanny lightness and elegance.

Felseneck is Schäfer-Fröhlich's top wine. It combines all of the best attributes of Tim's other sites into something truly stunning. It consolidates all of the minerality, texture, and finesse of the other GGs into one stunning whole.

Before Tim Fröhlich put the steep blue slate Felseneck vineyard on the map, it was totally off the radar. Today, some of Germany's best dry Rieslings originate from the site and are under Tim Fröhlich's watchful eye.

The 2022 Felseneck GG wows with its pristine mineral expression coupled with such a degree of impact and concentration. The wine offers a jaw-dropping combination of razor cut, depth, and detail. All of this is delivered with staggering clarity. 

I priced our modest parcel sharply to get it in as many hands as possible. This is a brilliant wine from one of Germany's dry wine masters.

The nose has an exotic notion that flickers somehow between pineapple and lemon. The palate is super-light, clear and crystalline. Underneath, however, there is a concentration that seems like a salty, unforgiving, uncompromising rock. Tim Fröhlich has 8.5ha across three terraces and says: 'This is why we have great potential here.' It is a liquid that seems like lemon-scented air.
