Côte-Rôtie's Master:
2018 Jamet Côte-Rôtie

When it comes to Jamet's Côte-Rôtie, there's not much that needs to be said.

They are long-standing benchmarks of the northern Rhône. They hit a level of Burgundian-like finesse that is almost without peer.

This is Côte-Rôtie with soaring aromatics and incredible detail. The weave of minerality, herbs, spice, savory elements, and florality is beautifully harmonious and simply amazing.

Everything points to the 2018 being an important vintage for the wine. The 2018 northern Rhônes are a layered and powerful vintage, for sure. With that said, it has a radiance and lift that really stands out.

Jamet's 2018 flaunts a seductive textural appeal that's backed up by verve and detail. There's explosive and finely etched notes of flowers, dark berries, spice, and crushed rock. The combination of intensity and finesse is really compelling.

I'm very happy to have another opportunity to offer this wine. Jamet's 2018 Côte-Rôtie is one of the top examples of the vintage. It's amazing how it can be so powerful and still maintain such an impressive balance. Given the 2018's harmony and the track record of Jamet's Côte-Rôtie for aging beautifully, we expect the 2018 to evolve amazingly well for the next two decades.

Josh Raynolds, Vinous Media: "Precise aromas of dark berry preserves, pungent flowers, pipe tobacco and smoky minerals; allspice and succulent herb nuances build in the glass. Broad, alluringly sweet and youthfully chewy, offering intense blackberry, cherry preserve, fruitcake and bitter chocolate flavors and a sexy candied violet flourish. Shows a compelling interplay of power and energy and finishes youthfully tannic and strikingly long, with lingering floral and mineral notes."
