Cult Burgundy Brilliance: 2015 Boisson-Vadot Bourgogne Blanc

Posted by Ian McFadden

Boisson's are among the most exciting White Burgundies that we taste each year.

The wines have developed an enormous following. At this point finding Boisson-Vadot in quantity is really difficult.

The Boisson family produces white Burgundies exactly as we like them: intensely mineral, nervy and yet, with a perfectly judged richness.

The sexy marketing line for Boisson is that Pierre Boisson is friends with Jean-François Coche's son, Raphael. There are some parallels that are worth mentioning. Both producers turn out incredibly precise wines with an emphatic mineral cut.

Boisson's 2015 Bourgogne is simply an extraordinary bottle for the category. We love the verve, deeply etched refinement, and slow building complexity. The vines for the Bourgogne Blanc are in Meursault and the wine carries some of the presence and nutty richness.

If it was more available, we'd quickly make this one of our go-to white Burgs. The reality is that we get the Boisson wines in very modest quantities. I'm very happy to offer, but do so with trepidation, expecting to spend time allocating the wine this afternoon.
