Cult Chablis:
2018 Tribut Chablis 1er Cru Beauroy

Posted by Ian McFadden

Tribut's Beauroy has a cult following.

When you taste the wine, it's pretty obvious why. This is a seriously good, classic Chablis at very fair pricing.

I buy every bottle of Tribut's Beauroy that I can get my hands on, and it's never enough.

Today, I'm happy to offer Tribut's 2018 1er Cru Beauroy for $54.95 on the bottle and $49.95 in 4-packs.

As many of you know, the 2018 vintage is on the riper side of the spectrum. Just as in 2015, another warm year, Tribut turned out an impressive collection.

The 2018 Beauroy possesses a textured, stony minerality with punch and finesse with a very detailed and clear fruit profile. It offers an impactful presentation of Chablis' unique oceanic minerality. There's generosity, but also a tactile and tension-filled spine that really animates the wine.

It's impossible not to detect a kinship between the wines of Tribut and Dauvissat. Of course, there's a very literal reality to this: Laurent Tribut is René Dauvissat's son-in-law, and Dauvissat helped establish the domaine.  Tribut's wines possess a similar complex Chablis minerality and sweeping notes of stone fruits, flowers, and minerals. Laurent Tribut recently retired, and the winemaking is now in the hands of his daughter, Solange.

I've been watching Tribut turn out incredibly strong collections for the past handful of vintages. The 2018 Beauroy boldly displays the caliber that Tribut is currently working at.

Burghound: "As is often the case with this wine there is a touch of exotic fruit in the form of white peach, apricot and melon nuances on the petrol-infused nose. The caressing and quite rounded medium-bodied flavors also possess a refreshing salinity on the solidly persistent and complex finale. I usually prefer the Côte de Léchet to the Beauroy but in 2018 it would appear that the latter has a small edge though we will of course see in time if it holds up."
