D'Angerville in the Jura: Breakout Vintage

Posted by Ian McFadden

Outstanding Jura from a Volnay star.

Guillaume d'Angerville makes stunning wines in Volnay, which is not news to any Burgundy lover.

But 2014 marks the vintage where everything clicked into high gear for d'Angerville's Jura estate, Domaine du Pélican. The project is still young, but the domaine's skill and resources have really begun to reveal themselves. D'Angerville's signatures of sophisticated elegance, impeccable detail and transparency are on full display. It's clear that these wines are setting a new standard for the region.

A blend of Pinot Noir, Trousseau and Ploussard, the Trois Cépages vibrates with a wonderfully evolved harmony, complexity and purity. We love the 2014 for its striking minerality and mouthwatering snap. The Trois Cépages is dangerously drinkable.

It was clear from the inaugural release of Domaine du Pélican that d'Angerville is approaching the Jura with a lot of excitement and an utterly sincere commitment to quality. There's a captivating purity and precision to the wines.

We're really excited about the Domaine du Pélican project. The 2014 Trois Cépages is just more evidence that this domaine is heading in fascinating and important directions. This is something that you'll want to drink in quantity.
