D'Angerville's 2.4-hectare monopole Clos des Ducs is one of Volnay's best sites. This steep, chalky site produces wines of singular intensity and breeding. It has no trouble competing with Grand Crus.
Today, we pay tribute to Clos des Ducs with an offering, including magnums and double-magnums.
I tried to select vintages that capture Clos des Ducs in many guises. The 2017 is a vintage that shows the grandeur of Ducs with a luminous sleek precision. The 2016 Ducs has a level of concentration and structure that leaves little doubt that it will serve as a monument to this great wine. D'Angerville's 2010 Ducs is an epic wine displaying an explosive complexity.
