There's no way around it. The 2008 Terre de Vertus is really stunning.
Terre de Vertus is one of the grower Champagnes that I (like many people) cut my teeth on well over a decade ago. The 2008 is easily one of the best examples of Terres de Vertus that I can remember.

It shouldn't be a huge surprise that the 2008 is one of the standout vintages for this bottle. 2008 is a vintage in Champagne that we love. It will go down with '96 and '02 as one of the best vintages of the past two decades. While '96 and '02 were ripe, powerful vintages, '08 delivers a sleek energy and balance. The easy comparison is with '88, one of our favorite Champagne vintages and one that has aged beautifully.
Even among vintages like '96 and '02, '08 provided close to perfect conditions for Terre de Vertus. The vintage's purity, deeply etched minerality and overall completeness are an ideal stage for this wine. It's a diamond-cut blanc de blancs in its precision and intense and incisive chalkiness.
Terre de Vertus is meant to be an unadorned portrait of the riveting mineral signature of the Côte des Blancs and Vertus specifically. It's sourced from two of Vertus' top sites, Les Barillers and Les Faucherets, and is bottled without dosage.
The result is a laser beam of chalk with a beautiful amount of length, finesse and subtle, building complexity. Pierre Larmandier is one of the most thoughtful, dedicated people in Champagne when it comes to vineyard work. He converted to biodynamics in 1999. The intensity and the purity of the 2008 Terre du Vertus serves as a monument to all of Larmandier's hard work.
Galloni's quote that it "dazzles from start to finish" is right on. This is something not to miss, especially in magnum.
