Depth & Focus from Meursault Master
2013 Lafon Meursault 1er Cru Porusots

Lafon's 2013s are stunning.

Across the board, they are absolutely brilliant, but even in this context the 1er Cru Porusots jumps out.

Lafon's 1er Cru Porusots has become an important wine for the region and the striking 2013 marks a truly standout vintage for the site.

The 1er Cru Porusots is an east-facing vineyard with deep clay soils. The site produces deeply structured, muscular wines. In 2013, Lafon's Porusots is intense, but perfectly proportioned - delivering a lovely concentration on the palate that is lifted by dazzling acidity. The wine is shockingly transparent and focused with pristine fruit layered over a shimmering minerality. The overall effect creates a remarkable sense of depth to match the wine's impressive length. It's a beautiful wine.

Over the past decade, we've watched Lafon's style pare down from overt opulence to a much more refined and elegant expression. The lovely balance between Lafon's new nervy style and Porusots' natural intensity and power makes for a thrilling wine.

Although his Porusots bottling is a relative newcomer to the Lafon stable, as John Gilman deftly predicted, it has become "a very major wine in the firmament of Meursault" with the corresponding demand to match it. Please give us your ideal order and we'll try our best.
