Direct from the Cellar - 24 Year Old Sparkler
1991 Lauer Riesling Sekt Reserve

Lauer's late release sparkling Rieslings are some of our most popular offers. Each time, they sell out within a matter of hours.

When another tranche of 1991 became available, we jumped on it.

When you consider the perfect provenance, the value that this 24 year old bottle delivers is really impressive. It's similar to what you'll pay for many non-vintage Champagnes. Viewed through this lens, the popularity of our Lauer Sekt Reserve offers is not surprising.

Lauer's Saar region has a rich history of sparkling wine production. The high and finessed acidity of the region lends itself particularly well to the category.

Lauer's Sekt Reserves are by far the greatest expressions of sparkling Riesling that we've tasted. There's a fascinating tension between the acid core and the complexly nuanced richness that comes from the wine's age.

We've worked with Lauer's 1990, 1991 and 1993 and the '91 is the most elegant and mineral of the trio. The '91 shows the agility, piercing finesse and transparency that has made Lauer a cult producer.

Simply put, this is a beautiful wine and the pricing only sweetens the deal. We see far too little of Lauer's late release sekts and see them too infrequently. Our advice is to take advantage of this while you can.
