The Perfect Collection to Start Your Summer
Every Bottle Discounted 20%!

It's a glorious time to be living in NYC.
Despite today's torrential downpours, the temperatures are continuing to climb and weekends like this last one seem to reaffirm life's glory.

While greenmarkets are still oriented towards spring vegetables, they are available in such abundance that you know that summer is just around the corner. As the thermometer and your wardrobe transition from spring to summer, we offer up a mixed case that has you totally covered and we've discounted every bottle 20%, bringing the the case under under $190!

As usual, we're offering 1) a Red-Only case and 2) a Red-White case with 5 reds, 1 rose, and 6 whites. When ordering, please do let us know if you would like the Red-Only or the Red-White case!

To begin, we have the stunning Hajszan Gruner Veltliner Nussberg that is the perfect match for your end-of-season asparagus or first of the season tomatoes.

Generally, the red-white case is oriented towards vibrant, crackling and refreshing whites and reds with a rose tossed in to cover those lazy sun-filled afternoons. We also added a couple weightier reds just to cover all bases and tastes.

Many of the wines will cause a double take, because they are off the beaten path. Please don't fret; we searched high and low to find wines that drink well beyond their price points and are accessible. We went to unlikely places, such as the outskirts of Vienna to an island near Naples to finding a delicious summer sipper in Armagnac country. The less familiar not only means outrageous value, but also an array of flavors (not to mention grapes) that you never knew existed.

While every wine in the case deserves the spotlight both in terms of quality and its fascinating origins, space only allows for a few to be highlighted.

From one of Burgundy's most northern and under-the-radar appellations, there's Collette Marsannay Vieilles Vignes, a red wine that's perfectly suited to the season. Also on the red side, there are also two more robust reds in Grand Lauze and Jean David Seguret that exemplify the level of purity and expressiveness that conscientious biodynamic winemaking is capable of.

These are ideal wines to pair with grilled or heartier fare. If you opt for the all-red case, you'll discover Graziano's Lambrusco that will dispel any thoughts that you may have that Lambrusco isn't a serious wine. Besides being serious, it's also just a fun wine perfectly suited to warm weather (serve it with a slight chill.)

In the white category, there's Edi Kante's wonderfully floral and mineral Malvasia Istriana. This is a thought-provokingly gorgeous wine borne out of red sandstone soils. The crisp and clean San de Guilhem offers the simple pleasures of a lovely wine that doesn't try to elbow its way into center stage. Finally, Lauverjat Rose rounds everything out with its lively cassis fruit and pretty aromatics.

The assortment is intended not only to complement the meals and moods of the upcoming weeks, but also to entertain, intrigue and delight. As always this represents our favorite best values from extensive tastings. At under $190, both represent cases of unabashed goodtimes to toast the lazy days of summer.

Check out the website regularly, because as the seasons change, so will our mixed case. In fact, we will *always* have a tailored mixed case available on-line, so when these 12 bottles run out, don't hesitate to reorder.

To secure your supply for summer, just decide if you prefer our "Red Only" mixed case or the "Red-White" mixed case and then call (212) 980-9463 to order!

Early Summer Mixed Case

Red

2007 Collotte Marsannay Vieilles Vignes
Hailing from one of Burgundy's most northern appellations, Collotte's Marsannay is a perfect warm weather red. Bright red pinot fruits are backed by vigorous acidity and intriguing herbal allusions.

2008 Brun Terres Dorees Beaujolais Vieilles Vignes
Jean-Paul Brun is one of Beaujolais'most talented winemakers. His 08 Beaujolais VV shows full on granite minerality, subtle floral notes, and brisk acidity.

2006 Jean David Cotes du Rhone Seguret
The perched village of Seguret has long held the title of the prettiest village in France. Jean-David crafts biodynamic wines that compete with the village in splendor. His 06 Seguret displays exceptionally pure dark fruits with hints of thyme and rosemary all in a robust and harmonious package. Great stuff.

2006 Grand Lauze La Mariole
Grand Lauze is located in the Languedoc region of southern France. They practice biodynamic viticulture with absolute sincerity trying to make the best wines possible. La Mariole is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Carignan. The vines were restricted to produce only a small amount of very concentrated wine. It shows in the resulting wine in its velvety, almost saturated in terroir, nature.

2005 L'Insolent de Laville
The 05 Bordeaux vintage produced extraordinary wines. This Petit Chateau is beginning to enter a great drinking phase. Classic notes of tobacco and pencil lead are complemented by polished dark red fruits.

Red Only Case Includes:

2005 Clos Cavenac Cotes du Marmandais
A blend of Syrah, both Cabs and then a cast of rarely seen grapes of southwestern France, like Fer and Arbouriou, Clos Cavenac is full of plums, minerals, and herbs. A lovely modern version of a country red.

2002 La Rioja Alta Reserva Alberdi
Traditional Rioja based on grace and understatement rather than extraction and power. A pleasant silky mouth feel is complemented by dried red fruits, brisk acidity, and a titillating herbal streak.

2005 Martinat Cotes de Bourg
Another 05 Bordeaux that delivers great value and drinking pleasure. Martinat is a suave and sleek Bordeaux that offers stylish rich red fruits and spice.

2005 Graziano Lambrusco Castelvertro
Vittorio Graziano is the Godfather of Lambrusco. His old fashioned wines are sturdy and charmingly rustic. The wines show great depth and complexity with dark cherry fruits, spice and barnyard notes. One of the most serious Lambruscos out there.

2006 Granja del Garrego Rioja Crianza
In somewhat a similar vein as Rioja Alta, but this one delivers dark cherry fruit with spice and a touch of earth. A great value.

2007 La Sibilla Piedirosso
Hailing from just northwest of Naples, La Sibilla's Piedirosso is full of dark fruits, minerals, and a bright, vibrant acidity. This is a perfect pizza wine and is also great with all red sauces or for sipping on it's own. Killer value.

2006 Heartland Shiraz
Heartland Shiraz shows that Aussie wines can be oriented towards a sense of restraint and balance. The wine offers bright cherry fruits with gentle minty notes.

Red/White includes:

2008 Hajszan Nussberg Gruner Veltiner
Hailing from one of the top vineyards of Austria's Wein region (a wine region on the outskirts of Vienna,) Hajszan's Gruner Veltliner Nussberger delivers amazing value. Typically, you'd have to move up a price point or two to find a wine that delivers as much concentration and signature Gruner character as this wine.

2008 San de Guilhem
San de Guilhem originates in France's southwest region of Gascony, which is more famous for its Armagnac. The wine is a blend of Gros Manseng, Collombard, and a touch of Ugni Blanc. What's much more important than this list of obscure grapes is that this wine is a crisp, apple and mineral-inflected pleasure.

2008 Lauverjat Sancerre Rose
A perennial favorite. It's elegant dry mineral finish both quenches a summer thirst and encourages the next sip.

2007 Mapuche Sauvignon Blanc
It took us tasting many South American Sauvignon Blancs to find one that we felt delivers the right amount of freshness and varietal character. Mapuche is a great value, juicy Sauvignon Blanc with creamy lemon fruit and grassy notes.

2006 Montenidoli Vernaccia Tradition
In the world of Vernaccia, there's Montenidoli and then there's everyone else. Montenidoli's version of the much abused Vernaccia grape will make you look at the wine anew. This is wine of great depth and purity.

2006 Kante Malvasia Istriana
After training with Italy iconoclastic cult winemaker, Josko Gravner, Kante set up his own winery in Friuli's Carso region. Kante's mineral rich Malvasia Istriana vividly displays the region's unique rocky soils along with the inherent beauty of the floral and citrusy Malvasia grape.

2007 Casa d'Ambra Ischia
Ischia is an island near Naples where d'Ambra continues to grow the nearly extinct Biancolella grape. This really lovely stuff: mineral, bright, and crisp it is the perfect thing to accompany seafood or just sip on its own.
