“Easily the estate’s finest and a true highlight of the vintage” – 2018 Lauer Riesling “Stirn"

Posted by Joe Salamone

A special industry-only 2018 Lauer tasting the other week confirmed the hype coming out of Germany about Florian Lauer’s 2018 collection. This is a do-not-miss, tour-de-force vintage for Lauer.

“Stirn,” is always one of Lauer’s most elegant and soaring wines, the 2018 is a wine of simply incredible grace and finesse. While the “Stirn” is always slightly off-dry, the tension and balance of the wine is undeniable. This is a wine of force and grip. It is truly electric.

A few people at the tasting remarked that this may be his greatest “Stirn” ever.

Then the Mosel Fine Wines report on the 2018 vintage came out just a few days later, all but anointing Lauer’s Stirn the greatest he’s ever made and one of the greatest off-dry Rieslings of the vintage (see the full tasting note below).

This makes the buying situation a bit more urgent.

We know it’s a holiday weekend, so we’ll keep it short: it has been getting harder and harder to get good allocations of Lauer’s top wines – this sort of praise only adds fuel to the fire.

So, we are going out early today with our “Stirn” offer in the hopes that we can fulfill most reasonable orders. This represents special pre-arrival pricing, good only until Monday. At $39.95 and $36.95 on four packs (one to try now and three for the cellar), this wine truly represents one of the greatest values in world-class white wine.

Lauer’s wines have been selling out at the estate well before release, so this may be your only chance. Plan accordingly! Note that this wine is being sold as a pre-arrival and should arrive in August or September.
