For 19 years, this has been one of our favorite dry Rieslings on earth, period.
The legend of this bottle began with a 2004 Frühlingsplätzchen GG, drank in the fall of 2005 at the legendary restaurant Montrachet in New York.
It was a showstopper, one of the first truly profound dry German Rieslings of this new era. (Taste with Frank Schönleber himself at the 2025 Rieslingfeier this upcoming January 18th in New York, see image for more details!)
In the decades since, few wines have consistently shown such focus and delineation, such a soaring florality, with vivid, pulverized minerals and a tactile, chiseled grip. Keller's Abtserde? Schäfer-Fröhlich's Felseneck? The list is very, very short.
Today we present the newly released vintage, the dazzling 2023 Frühlingsplätzchen GG at the lowest price in the nation, only $85 on the three-pack. (Rare magnums are available as well, see below.)
"Frühlingsplätzchen" translates to something like "a little piece of spring" and the wine shows, year in and year out, a mouthwatering florality, a soaring perfume, and a truly intense, mind-boggling minerality. Frühlingsplätzchen is a wine of lightness and finesse, always.
The 2023 is one of the most complete Frühlingsplätzchens in several years. It is expressive, outward, and giving while remaining tensile and gripping. It has everything; Schönleber nailed the vintage.
We've written this before, but it remains more true than ever: There is perhaps no other German wine estate with a track record of such ruthlessly mineral, profoundly rigorous dry Rieslings.
Given Schönleber's track-record for aging, the three-pack is strongly recommended. In 19 years, you'll thank us.
We're excited to offer this sharply priced parcel. Don't miss these.
