Eleni and Edouard Vocoret are among the most exciting young producers in Chablis.
In the past few vintages, the wines have been stunning. As good as their early efforts were, the trajectory of the domaine is astonishing. They are currently one of my favorite addresses for riveting Chablis.
Vocoret's 2019s represent a high-water mark.
Bas de Chapelot is a formidable site. It sits below the famed 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre. The combination of tension-filled detail and concentration makes Bas de Chapelot a perennial favorite of mine.
In 2019, Bas de Chapelot is brilliant. There's a laser-like precision, staining minerality, and gripping concentration.
Edouard and Eleni meet in New Zealand in 2010. Edouard's family owns Domaine Vocoret & Fils, a large and well known Chablis domaine. Upon returning to France, Edouard took a few hectares of his family's holdings and started the domaine.
Eleni & Edouard produce Chablis exactly as I like it. They are elegant and emphatically mineral but are also backed by tons of substance. The 2019 Bas de Chapelot is a really compelling example of their style. For the price, our advice is to stock up. You'll be happy that you did.

Neal Martin, Vinous Media: "The 2019 Chablis Le Bas de Chapelot is more discreet on the nose compared to the Les Pargues, displaying subtle scents of blood orange and apricot blossom, beautifully defined as usual. The palate is vibrant and lively with a keen bitter lemon edge, dovetailing into a concentrated finish."
