The villages designation is very deceiving.
Roulot's Meursault is world-class.
It is razor-sharp, indisputably noble, and emphatically mineral. Roulot makes some of the most riveting expressions of Chardonnay on earth and the Meursault Villages makes this clear.
Roulot's 2019s are epic. The wines present themselves with a scale and level of detail that's amazing. They deliver clarity, precision, and power.
The fact that Roulot's Meursault exists on its own plane isn't surprising. Besides being one of the masters of Chardonnay, Jean-Marc Roulot sources the Meursault from great lieu-dits. The majority comes from Clos de la Baronne with the remainder coming from Les Gruyaches, Narvaux, Sous la Velle, and Les Crotots.
The 2019's combination of snap and punch is simply thrilling. The layers of stone fruits, spice, and minerals are crystal clear. Its power is beautifully buoyed by a racy acidity.
I'm going to wrap this up. Given the excitement over the 2019, there's no point fanning the fire. I'm very happy to have another opportunity to offer.

Burghound: "A very Meursault-like nose consists of grilled hazelnut, pear and apple compote with hints of acacia blossom. There is excellent underlying tension to the delicious middle weight flavors that possess better depth and persistence on the more refined finale. This is a quality villages."
