Along with Kellerberg and Singerriedel, Steinertal is one of the Wachau's best sites.
For many Austrian wine fans, it simply doesn't get any better than Alzinger's Steinertal.
Steinertal's finessed minerality seems to form a perfect marriage with Alzinger's super-fine and elegant style.
The 2017 flaunts Alzinger's magical ability with Steinertal to have length and riveting detail and grace. In Austria, the 2017 vintage leans towards the riper side. In this context, Alzinger's Grüner amazes with its punchy mineral drive and detailed purity. It offers a tremendous amount of lift and finesse.
We've been huge fans of Alzinger's wines for over a decade, but the recent vintages have really blown us away. In his I'll Drink to That! podcast interview with Levi Dalton, Leo Alzinger goes in depth about the key changes that have been implemented at the winery in the last few years (regarding lees contact, sulphur use and more) to reach increasingly high levels of quality.
As most of you are sadly aware, the problem with Alzinger is the quantities. Alzinger is only 10ha and the wines are doled out in painfully small quantities. There's no doubt that Steinertal is the site and is the most aggressively hunted down. Please give us your ideal order and we'll try our best.
