For the past six months, we've been beating the drum for Lafon's 2017s.
The 2017s are some of the best we've seen from this long-standing benchmark.
Lafon has been on an absolute tear in recent vintages. The wines have never had more clarity and finesse. His 2017 Genevrières emphatically drives this point home.
Along with Perrières and Charmes, Genevrières forms a holy trinity. A quick summary is that Charmes is known for its grandeur, Perrières for its refined, punchy mineral focus, and Genevrières, to some extent, falls in the middle. Many put Genevrières as a close second to Perrières. That's to say that it's one of the greatest expressions of Meursault.
With the exception of Coche-Dury, Genevrières doesn't get any better than Lafon's. The site is endowed with incredible harmony, drive, and precision.
The 2017 Genevrières is stunning. It offers so much class and complexity. Burghound calls the wine "racy and lacy" and notes that it "should age effortlessly". That begins to orient you to the wine's tension-filled, intense, and complex personality. It's absolutely seductive with its laser-like minerality, elegance, and layered notes of flowers, citrus, and spice.
This represents Lafon firing on all cylinders. I'm very happy to have the opportunity to offer Lafon's 2017 Genevrières, but I should warn you that quantities are very limited. Please give us your ideal order, and we'll try our best.

Burghound: "A highly restrained and gorgeously elegant nose grudgingly offers up notes of naturally exotic and relatively high-toned aromas of kiwi, jasmine tea, spice and evident citrus influence. The racy and lacy middle weight flavors are built on a base of minerality and while the wonderfully long finish possesses excellent intensity, the basic character if one of finesse and refinement. I really like the overall depth and this too should age effortlessly."
