The vintage played right into Pertimali's hands. It's tempting to think about Brunello as a wine of raw power, but Pertimali reminds you that Brunello can show many more dimensions. Pertimali's Brunellos can startle in their finesse, aromatics and nuance.
Pertimali's 2010 Brunello seems to tease out every ounce of aromatic complexity from the Sangiovese Grosso grape. The aromatics soar with a sense of detail, harmony and lift. Think of smoke, fresh black cherry, flowers, spice, incense and minerals all wrapped around an elegant, bright core.
Beyond the thoughtful and subtle house style, a large part of the story is Pertimali's location. It's situated in the northern part of Montalcino where the conditions are ideal for making finessed, balanced and aromatically complex Brunellos.
Pertimali's Brunellos age beautifully. We've tasted wines from as far back as the 80s and seen that time unlocks an even greater explosion of aromatics and complexity. 2010 seems poised to be a legend, which is why we chased down as many double-magnums as we could find.
