I was really happy to have landed this parcel.
At the time of its release, I couldn't find enough quantity for an email offer.Â

Corbeaux is one of Bachelet's wines that has wowed me countless times. This is a complicated site, a 1er Cru that is sandwiched between the Grand Cru Mazis-Chambertin and the village of Gevrey-Chambertin itself. The vineyard is tough to classify, yet the choicest parcels create a wine that mirrors the complexity of the site itself, and the mysteriousness that surrounds Corbeaux always makes it undervalued.
Bachelet's Gevrey Corbeaux comes from vines that are very old, ranging from 60 to 70 years in age. It is a powerful, deep, and complex wine—it always shows an impressive concentration and Gevrey's typical muscle, but it carries its weight effortlessly, leaving an impression of fineness and discreetness.
As is the case so often with this domaine, Bachelet's 2019s are stunning—deeply nuanced, regally structured, and beautifully suave. The 2019 Corbeaux has always impressed me with how it combines the noble and the sauvage. There are unmistakable wild notes of earth, game, and smoke. This is combined with an impeccable precision and delicacy. It's an unbeatable combination.Â
Before closing, I should mention that this is a very modest parcel that will likely disappear quickly.Â
