German Auction Treasures - 1988-2013:
Egon Müller, J.J. Prüm & Willi Schaefer

Our tastings leave no doubt that auction bottlings from top producers exist on a different plane.

Yes, they're rare, and expensive. With that said, these are some of the greatest wines in the world. For the few who know them well, they are legendary.

Today, I'm happy to offer an unparalleled list of auction wines from Müller, Prüm and Willi Schaefer. In many cases, these are the only bottles in the world.

We've never been able to compile a list like this before and I doubt we'll put another one together anytime soon.

Each September many of the Mosel’s greatest producers descend on Trier with their best wines in tow. The Grosser Ring (VDP Mosel-Saar-Ruwer) auction has been held there since 1908. Recently, the auctions have been marketed under "Masterpieces of the Mosel," a fitting title.

The estates don’t pull any punches with their selections for the auction. The bottles represent some of the most magical wines in their cellars and the pinnacle of the vintage.

The holy trinity of Müller, Prüm and Schaefer have provided us with many of our most memorable wine experiences, especially their auction bottlings. Every year at Rieslingfeier when we tally our favorite wines, it's these three producers that dominate our list.

I'm going to wrap this up. Please check out the list below. These are some of the rarest and grandest wines around.
