Schäfer-Fröhlich's 2021 GGs will go down as one of the greatest collections of this elite estate.
The top 2021 Nahe dry wines are simply amazing. They possess an incredible impact and shimmering agility. The mineral cut is incredible.
Still, Schäfer-Fröhlich's stand alone. They are among the top wines of the vintage. Across the range, Schäfer-Fröhlich's 2021s show a dumbfounding amount of purity and cut.
Tim Fröhlich makes some of Germany's best dry wines. Schäfer-Fröhlich's signature is force and intensity combined with ruthlessly sharp detail. Every edge feels like it's been sharpened and brought into focus. The 2021 GGs take these qualities to breathtaking heights.
Today, we're excited to offer three of Schäfer-Fröhlich 2021 Grosses Gewächs in magnums.
Since its debut vintage in 2012, the Stromberg GG has competed with the Felseneck GG for the honor of Schäfer-Fröhlich's top dry bottling. The Stromberg is stylistically very different from Felseneck. It's a much more expansive and muscular expression with dark, staining minerality. The 2021 Stromberg Grosses Gewächs is a mind-blowing bottle. It is shockingly razor sharp, crystal clear, and rigorously defined.
Felsenberg occupies a fascinating place in the Schäfer-Fröhlich GG lineup. It carries the estate's signature of force and intensity combined with ruthlessly sharp detail. Felsenberg is a volcanic site that combines Felseneck's precision with Stromberg's dark mineral intensity. The 2021 has a very beautiful mineral clarity. Felsenberg is always a powerhouse, but in 2021 the wine has a finesse that we haven't seen before.
As is usually the case, Schäfer-Fröhlich's 2021 Felseneck Grosses Gewächs represents the absolute pinnacle of the range. It comes dangerously close to falling into the "this is as good as dry Riesling gets" category. The 2021 is simply brilliant. Felseneck is Schäfer-Fröhlich's top wine. It combines all of the best attributes of Tim's other sites into something truly beautiful. It consolidates all the minerality, texture, and finesse of the other GGs into one stunning whole. The 2021 Felseneck boasts a showstopping intensity and verve.
