We’ve said it before: we’re obsessed with Jouan’s wines. We absolutely love their airy elegance and haunting subtleties.

Jouan produces an outstanding lineup of wines, but we find ourselves reaching most often for his village-level wines; you’ll have a hard time finding a better value in all of Burgundy. Jouan’s Morey St. Denis has always been one of our favorites.

The 2017 vintage, which stands out for its bright, expressive style, is an ideal match for Jouan’s graceful, nuanced wines. The MSD, which comes from three lieux-dits, Crais Gillon, Corvées, and Le Village, highlights the perfect match between vintage and style: it has 2017s buoyant luminosity and Jouan’s characteristic haunting aromatics. The total package offers both joyful drinkability and mysterious depth of complexity.

Jouan produces some of the most intriguing and thought-provoking Burgundies we know. The 2017 MSD is a prime example of this. We’re certainly not alone in this opinion; his wines always seem to disappear quickly.
