Anytime that I see Tribut's 2016 Beauroy for sale, I buy it.
Tribut made, quite possibly, the Chablis of the vintage.
Finding Tribut in quantity is always difficult, but it's even worse in 2016. Production was down by 50% or more.
The 2016 Beauroy is deeply concentrated with a mineral-laden and cool fruit profile. There's a textural imprint of stony minerality and a saline streak. The wine is further animated by currents of citrus.
As we've said in the past, it's very easy to detect a kinship with the wines of Dauvissat. In Tribut, you encounter a similar classically structured and deeply complex Chablis minerality.
This isn't accidental. Laurent Tribut married Marie-Clotilde Dauvissat, the daughter of René Dauvissat. The Dauvissats purchased choice parcels to give to their children to become winemakers, which is the land Laurent and Marie-Clotilde farm, and opened up their cellar to them.
At $49.95 per bottle, this is one of the great deals in Chablis. It's no surprise that Beauroy sells out quickly whenever we have the opportunity to offer it.
