"His growing mastery shows in the quality of his 2019s"
2019 Paul Pillot Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos St. Jean

Posted by Ian McFadden

Thierry Pillot has emerged as one of Burgundy's most talented white Burgundy producers. The wines possess unmatched purity and crystalline character that sets them apart.

It's clear that people have noticed. Pillot's are some of the wines that I have the hardest time finding in quantity. I feel lucky to have this modest parcel of Pillot's 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos St. Jean, which I'm happy to offer at the lowest pricing around.

As Burghound's note above makes clear, Pillot's 2019s are stunning. They possess an incredible balance and detail. It's an incredible collection of wines.

The 1er Cru Clos St. Jean is one of the brightest in the range with floral notes. It has a nervy and radiant core of stony minerality. The wine also has a soaring power that serves as a nice complement to the tension-filled core.

Pillot is one of the most sought-after producers in all of Burgundy. Before wrapping up, I should encourage you to get your orders in quickly.

William Kelley, The Wine Advocate: "Aromas of white flowers, pear, crisp green apple, beeswax and fresh bread preface Pillot's 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos Saint-Jean, a medium-bodied, tangy and incisive wine with a ripe core of fruit and a lively spine of acidity. This nicely balanced wine is once again likely to number among the domaine's more immediate premiers crus.."
