Historic Vintage - Direct from the Cellar
1971 JB Becker Wallufer Walkenberg Auslese #1

When you taste German wines from 1971, the vintage's greatness slaps you in the face.

It's such a wonderfully balanced and complete vintage. If you survey the past fifty years, you'll find maybe two or three vintages that could be counted as peers.

We're excited to have landed these bottles of Becker's 1971, which have been perfectly stored and just released, direct from the cellar.

Becker's wines have an undoubtedly "old-fashioned" feel to them. They are some of the most soulful and mysterious wines out there. In my mind, they occupy a place with Pepe, Valentini, Verset and Bartolo Mascarello. Nothing is rushed at Becker; they are wines for the long-haul.

Tasting a wine of Becker's with age on it offers endless fascination. They evolve constantly in the glass. With each taste, another nuance is revealed.

Becker organically farms vines in Eltviller Sonnenberg and Wallufer Walkenberg. While Eltviller Sonnenberg is the more famous of the two, Wallufer Walkenberg, where he has choice parcels with many old vines, is undoubtedly Becker's flagship site.

It's very rare that we get to offer wines this old and from such a legendary vintage with this provenance. It probably goes without saying that there isn't a lot of this to go around. Please give us your ideal order and we'll try our best.
