Mugneret-Gibourg's entire 2017 collection is stunning, but the Chaignots really shines this year. It's a bright and finessed vintage that allowed a serious level of refinement to come through in the Chaignots.
The 1er Cru Les Chaignots is situated on the northern side of Nuits, abutting Vosne-Romanée. There's some of Vosne's spice and gentle richness of aroma on the nose. There is an impeccable balance between the spicy, floral aromatics of Vosne and the saturating, muscular palate of Nuits.
The 2017 Chaignots makes clear just how seductive Mugneret-Gibourg's wines can be. It's always a pleasure to offer Chaignots as it's one of my favorite wines in Burgundy.
