We've been waiting to get our hands on Foillard's 2021s.
As we said in a previous offer, the 2021s very much feel like a throw-back vintage. It's a nimble and energetic vintage for Beaujolais. Foillard wines this year are captivating.
Today, we're happy to offer Foillard's 2021 Corcelette VV for $41.95 per bottle.
Corcelette is a perfect contrast to his legendary Côte du Py. If Côte du Py is rich and wild-cherry-accented, Corcelette has an intricate delicacy. Corcelette shows the more delicate side of Morgon. It originates from 80-year-old vines planted in sandy soil. This is Gamay cast in silk with a shimmering presentation of bright red fruits, flowers, and ultra-clear stony minerality.
All of Foillard's wines have an amazing textural intrigue, but here you get an underlying minerality that's profoundly tactile. We love the wine's energetic mineral streak and nuanced floral notes.
The 2021 Corcelette has a beautiful stern mineral backbone. This high-toned and incisive character is perfectly complemented by a silky texture. As always, it offers up complexity in its layers of herbs, earth, stony minerals, and a wide spectrum of bright red fruits.
There's not much that needs to be said. This is a special vintage for Foillard. I wish it wasn't a short vintage, but I'm very happy to offer this modest parcel.
