Julien Sunier wasted no time becoming one of Beaujolais' top talents.
Now on his twelfth vintage, Sunier has cemented his reputation.
Sunier's 2020 Morgon highlights his irresistible and very compelling winemaking style. It's gorgeously silken and strikingly pure.
Getting a leg up in the wine world can happen in odd ways. For Julien Sunier, it started with his mother cutting Christophe Roumier's hair. Sunier ended up working with Roumier, went on to spend time in the new world, and finally landed in Beaujolais where he gained a deep knowledge of the region while working for a negociant before striking out on his own. Today, you’ll find old Roumier barrels in Sunier's cellar.
The Morgon is sourced from two parcels, one on the famed lieu-dit of Corcelette and the other at the edge of the Morgon/Régnié border in a vineyard named En Oeillat. The densely planted and organically farmed vineyards are nearing sixty years old.
Sunier's 2020 Morgon is seductive. It's beautifully suave with a nicely stern mineral core. We love the wine's incredibly appealing profile along with its high-toned and very expressive character. There's good complexity with its layers of herbs, earth, stony minerals, and a wide spectrum of bright red fruits.
We taste Sunier's Morgon every vintage and after tasting the 2020 multiple times, it's clear to us that this is a standout vintage. We created special 4-pack pricing to encourage you to go deep on this. It's a wine that you'll want around in quantity.
