Each vintage, we taste through Sunier's lineup looking for a wine that's extraordinarily delicious. When Sunier's wines hit their mark, they deliver purity and outright drinkability that we love. That's definitely the case with the 2023 Fleurie.

Sunier's Fleurie comes from an intensely steep parcel of old vines called Niagara that he rents from Yvon Métras' brother.
The vineyard has a very, very thin layer of topsoil over Fleurie's pink granite. In Sunier's hands, this site has Fleurie's famous delicacy with an amazingly energetic core.
The 2023 offers up beautiful aromatics, brilliant red fruits, and nice precision. It's beautifully suave with a stern acid and mineral backbone.
Getting a leg up in the wine world can happen in odd ways. For Julien Sunier, it started with someone whose hair his mother cut. That someone was none other than Christophe Roumier. Sunier ended up working with Roumier, went on to spend time in the new world, and finally landed in Beaujolais, where he gained a deep knowledge of the region working for a negociant before striking out on his own. Today, you’ll find old Roumier barrels in Sunier's cellar.
We first tasted Sunier's 2023 Fleurie in a tasting of thirty different wines. Among all of them, it was one of the top few wines of the tasting. Sunier hit the mark with this wine.
