Hundred Acre
2006 Kayli Morgan Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
"It is unquestionably one of the wines of the vintage."
- Robert Parker, Wine Advocate
Hundred Acre has been one of our most requested cult California Cabs ever. For the 2006 vintage, Jayson Woodbridge has once again served up an exceptional collection of Cabernet with the Kayli Morgan being the headlining star: This is as close to perfect as a Hundred Acre Kayli Morgan has ever gotten.
With the combination of escalating enthusiasm, reviews (and prices!), I think it's safe to say that Hundred Acre is now a Californian on par with the likes of Bond, Colgin, Sloan and Maya from Dalla Valle.
Because we have strongly supported Jayson Woodbridge and his wines over the past five vintages, we have been given a generous allocation of the Kayli Morgan Vineyard Cabernet. This is the "original," sourced from a densely planted vineyard just off the Silverado Trail near St. Helena. The style is full-throttle hedonism, layers and layers of dark sweet fruits, creme de cassis, black cherries, graphite and cedar. Think of it as a Cali Cab version of "Le Pin"; ~1000 cases total production. The magic involves owner Jayson Woodbridge and winemaker Philippe Melka. Woodbridge has a reputation for an attention to detail that overwhelms many in an industry that takes nothing for granted and Melka's passion sculpts wines such as Bryant Family. See below for complete tasting notes.
*A Note on Allocation*
With only 1,000 cases of the Kayli Morgan we feel fortunate to have tremendous support from both Jayson and Philippe. We are thankful to announce that despite the small quantity made, for the fifth vintage running we should be able to fulfill any *reasonable* request for an allocation. To honor this, however, we must have your order by Friday, August 21st.
The sooner you call us at (212) 980-9463, the more likely we will be able to fulfill your requested allocation.

Robert Parker, Wine Advocate: "In a vintage that tended to produce more rustic tannins as well as more structured, masculine wines, the 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Kayli Morgan Vineyard has turned out brilliantly. Like its siblings, it exhibits a deep ruby/purple color, low acidity, incredibly sweet, ripe tannins, and notes of melted chocolate, kirsch liqueur, and a hint of cassis. Opulent, intense, and full-bodied with fabulous fruit purity and depth, this is a tour de force in winemaking. It is unquestionably one of the wines of the vintage. It will drink well for 15+ years."
