Mugneret-Gibourg's Chaignots may be the most elegant example of Nuits around.
The 2021 drives this point home emphatically. It's an extraordinarily fine-tuned and finessed version of the wine with a beautiful thread of acidity. The balance is impeccable.
The 1er Cru Les Chaignots is situated on the northern side of Nuits, abutting Vosne-Romanée. There is a gorgeous weave of spicy, floral aromatics of Vosne, and the saturating, muscular palate of Nuits.
I'll wrap this up. Mugneret-Gibourg is one of the most loved and consistent producers of red Burgundy. For fans of their Chaignots, the 2021 is not to be missed.Â
