I'll keep this brief. It's been over a decade since we've offered Raveneau's Montée de Tonnerre.
Today, I'm very happy to offer a modest parcel of Raveneau's 2020 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre.
At their best, the 2020s combine power and richness with snap, tension, and Chablisien minerality. Raveneau has clearly produced some of the top wines of the vintage.
Have no doubt about it, while the Montée de Tonnerre is technically a 1er Cru vineyard, the wine has a density and size to it that humbles most of the Grand Crus.
The 2020 Montée de Tonnerre has incredible precision and clarity along with a chewy, silky, and sappy concentration. It offers up a seriously elegant rush of stone, sea salt, citrus fruit, and flowers.
I encourage you to get your orders in early. Quantities are very limited and will likely sell out quickly.

Burghound: "A more elegant and ultra-cool nose reveals its combination of floral, citrus zest, iodine and that briny sea water character the best examples of Chablis all seem to possess, all of which is trimmed in moderate but not invasive wood. There isn't quite the same volume on the palate as the Butteaux, but the middleweight flavors are notably more refined before terminating in a driving, chiseled and citrusy bone-dry finale. I very much like the focused power of the finish and this classy effort should also amply reward extended cellaring."
