Roulot's Meursault is world-class.
It is razor-sharp, indisputably noble, and emphatically mineral. Roulot makes some of the most riveting expressions of Chardonnay on earth and the Meursault Villages makes this clear. The villages designation is very deceiving.
Roulot's 2020s are special. I was floored by the 2020 white Burgundies when I tasted them earlier this year. Even in this context, Roulot significantly outperformed in this brilliant vintage.
I like how Burghound describes Roulot's success: "I was especially impressed as the style of the 2020 vintage seems to marry perfectly with the Roulot style of purity, energy and exquisitely delicate textures."
The 2020 Meursault Villages has an absolutely lovely combination of cut and concentration. This is a magical vintage for this bottle. It has a refinement and sense of completeness that rarely is encountered.
The fact that Roulot's Meursault exists on its own plane isn't surprising. Besides being one of the masters of Chardonnay, Jean-Marc Roulot sources the Meursault from great lieu-dits. The majority comes from Clos de la Baronne with the remainder coming from Les Gruyaches, Narvaux, Sous la Velle, and Les Crotots.
This is an extraordinary vintage for Roulot's Meursault Villages. I'm really happy to have the opportunity to offer the wine. It should not be missed.

Burghound: "This was bottled the day before my visit and not surprisingly, there was some unabsorbed sulfur on the otherwise pure and elegant aromas of hazelnut, white flower and the cool essence of pear and apple compote. There is again very good verve to the utterly delicious and solidly concentrated middle weight flavors that possess"
