With all that said, the 2019s are special. They are some of the great successes of the very strong vintage.Â
While Lafarge's wines from Volnay capture many people's interests, it would be a mistake to overlook their work in Beaune. They can be soaring and rigorous in their incredibly detailed mineral expression.
The Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Aigrots Rouge is one of the great values in red Burgundy, especially in vintages where Lafarge excels, like 2019.Â
The 2019 Clos des Aigrots is a glorious expression of this. It offers up a jaw-dropping clarity. There's a finessed core of stony minerality along with beautiful high tones of spice, red fruits, and floral notes.
Lafarge is one of our favorite producers; there is just something about the delineation, the fineness, and the purity of the wines. I'm very happy to be able to offer this.
