2021 Berthaut-Gerbet Bourgogne Hautes Cotes de Nuits

Without a doubt, Berthaut-Gerbet's Bourgogne - Hautes Côtes de Nuits offers some of the best value in red Burgundy around.

I'm happy to offer the  2021 Berthaut-Gerbet Bourgogne - Hautes Côtes de Nuits for $36.95 per bottle.

I made the 2019 Bourgogne - Hautes Côtes de Nuits my wine of the year in 2022. It's notoriously difficult to find red Burgundy under $45 that really delivers. Berthaut-Gerbet's 2019 blew me away.

Even at this level, Berthaut-Gerbet's calling cards of clarity, precision, and intricate delicacy are on bold display. The 2021 Bourgogne - Hautes Côtes de Nuits has amazing poise and gorgeous purity. This is a sleek and nervy vintage for the wine. It has bright red fruits, earth, and a blazing mineral core.

Since her first vintage, I’ve been seriously impressed with Amélie Berthaut’s wines. She’s quickly establishing Berthaut-Gerbet as one of Burgundy’s most exciting estates. In 2013, at just 25 years old, Amélie Berthaut took over the majority of her mother and father’s separate estates to form Berthaut-Gerbet. Her wines immediately created a major stir.

I bought every bottle of this that I could get my hands on. What it offers for the money is extremely impressive. Sadly, it doesn't amount to that much. I encourage you to get your orders in early.

Burghound: "An exuberantly fresh and bright nose speaks of notes of red and dark berries along with a trace of earth. The middleweight flavors possess a sleek texture while reflecting the same freshness as the nose on the mildly austere bitter pit fruit-inflected finale. This is a quality Bourgogne that should repay 1 to 3 years of keeping. Worth a look."
