I never hesitate to buy d'Angerville's 2019s.
Whenever the vintage comes up, people always mention d'Angerville as one of the greats.
None other than Burghound has written: "As the scores and commentaries confirm, I was very impressed by what I found here in 2019 as there are several knockouts that include the Clos des Ducs, Taillepieds and Champans."Â
Today, I'm happy to offer two of Burghound's three "knockouts". d'Angerville's 2019 1er Cru Champans and 1er Cru Taillepieds.
D'Angerville's Champans is one of Burgundy's distance runners. Every time we've had the opportunity to drink old Champans, they've been amazing. We’ve had bottles with fifty years of age that were still gorgeously fresh and completely stunning.
The 2019 Champans is seriously intense, with saturating dark fruits, and a lovely suave texture. The magic of the 2019 Champans is the way it combines muscle and density with a gorgeous finesse.
Taillepieds is one of d'Angerville's wines that people get obsessed with. There's a group of people who hold Taillepieds even more dear than Ducs.
The 2019 is a beautiful example of Taillepieds. It has a sleek finesse along with serious length and impact. The palate is a beautiful weave of luminous red fruits and spice with an overall impression of fine calibration.
I suspect that this will be the last opportunity that I'll have to offer these wines for quite some time, and when I offer them again pricing will have increased significantly. I encourage you to stock up on 2019 d'Angerville now. They are simply that good.Â
