Bachelet's Charmes is one of Burgundy's masterpieces. It is among the rarest treasures of Burgundy.
Allocations, even to major merchants in major cities, often come down to a single bottle. Bachelet's plot is a mere 0.44ha of very old vines. Bachelet makes somewhere around 180 cases.
For us, there's no better example of the Grand Cru than this. More accurately, Bachelet's Charmes ranks among our favorites in all of Burgundy.
Bachelet's Charmes is larger-than-life. When this wine is in its zone, it has few peers. It's wickedly complex, deeply mysterious, and insanely powerful, yet manages to maintain an ultra-clear, super-elegant balance.
The 2021 is a mesmerizing Charmes with detail, length, and aristocratic brilliance. Here you get a very classic vintage of the wine. It is a profound bottle, delivering breathtaking complexity, elegance, and dazzling purity. The impact and sense of completeness is absolutely stunning. It's multifaceted and explosive with notes of soil, stony minerality, flowers, and layered red fruits.
I'm going to wrap this up. Bachelet's Charmes is among the most loved and rarest red Burgundies. I'll close by stating the obvious: we have a very limited amount of this. Please give us your ideal order, and we'll try our best.

Burghound: "Generous but not invasive wood still allows the perfumed aromas of anise, violet, earth and red and dark cherry to be appreciated. The old vines are very much in evidence as there is excellent mid-palate density that coats the palate with sappy dry extract and buffers the firm core of ripe tannins shaping in the wonderfully persistent finale. The impeccably well-balanced effort should amply repay 12 to 15 years of keeping yet be approachable after only 7 to 8. Excellent."
