Taillepieds is one of d'Angerville's wines that people get obsessed with.
There's a group of people who hold Taillepieds even more dear than Ducs.
The unfortunate fact is that d’Angerville’s Taillepieds parcel is half the size of their Ducs holdings and a quarter of Champans, making it one of the hardest of d'Angerville's wines to find in quantity.
This is the first time that I've been able to offer the 2016 Taillepieds. I've been slowly accumulating the wine and am happy to offer it at very sharp pricing.
By any standard, d'Angerville's 2016s are stunning. As Burghound writes, "While d'Angerville rarely misses, I was particularly taken with the quality I found here; indeed the word classic would aptly describe their 2016s." The 2016 red Burgundies show an incredible concentration with a cool, mineral-laden profile. D'Angerville thrived under these conditions.
Taillepieds is all about raciness - it's full of stony minerality and has an intricate depth. The Taillepieds plot sits just above Champans and is very steeply sloped with poor, rocky soil.
The 2016 Taillepieds is a masterpiece. It's rare that a wine hits this equation of balance and nuanced complexity. The energy, detail, and class are jaw-dropping.
I couldn't help following up last weeks 2016 Clos des Ducs offer with a Taillepieds offer. D'Angerville's 2016s are special. This is not to be missed.
