There was a point when Tribut was an insider's secret. That has ended, especially in 2014.
Tribut's 2014s are stunning, and the Côte de Léchet is a star of the line-up. This hasn't escaped people. It's a wine that's become very difficult to locate in any quantity. Currently, there are two other listings.
The 2014 vintage in Chablis is classically styled with an extra dose of power. There's impressive concentration with incredibly pure and delineated Chablis minerality and razor cut.
Tribut's Côte de Léchet exemplifies these qualities. Burghound notes its "perfect Chablis typicity." There's beautifully delineated notes of saline minerality and citrus. The tension and drive is absolutely thrilling.
The story here is that Laurent Tribut married Marie-Clotilde Dauvissat, the daughter of René Dauvissat. The Dauvissats had purchased choice parcels to give their children to become winemakers, which is the land Laurent and Marie-Clotilde farm. Tribut was welcomed with open arms to the Dauvissat winemaking process: the two domaines share everything from pickers to printers and until very recently, Tribut made wines in Dauvissat's cellar.
This is a small parcel that we're only sending to people who've supported the Chablis program. We'll likely have to allocate. Please give us your ideal order and we'll try our best.

Stephen Tanzer, Vinous Media: "Crushed stone, oyster shell and lime plus a resiny nuance on the nose. Sweet and thick but energetic too, conveying a light touch to the sappy flavors of grapefruit, crushed rock and minerals. Finishes brisk and strong. The 2014 malolactic fermentations finished in January, after which Tribut racked the wines from cuves into older barrels."
