The value and ageability that Chevillon offers is simply awesome.
Their Nuits has long been one of my bulletproof village Burgundies.
While pricing on many of our favorite village Burgundies has gone vertical in the past few years, Chevillon continues to overdeliver for the price.
The 2015 ups the ante with this perennially killer bottle. The interest in the 2015 Burgundies has already started to veer towards craziness. For us, some of the most extraordinary successes were at the village level.
Quantities are so meager that it pains me to write this, but Chevillon's NSG is a don't miss.
Chevillon's style is deep, soulful, structured and honest. The wines age in amazing ways. The Nuits VV benefits from a decade plus of aging.
These are formidable, stony and intense Burgundies. However, when the wines hit their mark, finesse is an unmistakable part of the equation. The 2015 NSG drives this home. For all of its grip and detail, there's a lift and class that's dazzling.
From the 2015, expect the unique wild complexity of Chevillon with sauvage qualities, mingling with a stern minerality, radiant energy and muscle. And all of this is rendered with startling precision.
There are few domaines that I respect as much as Chevillon. The NSG VV is one of the village wines that I buy for my cellar every year. Tasting top vintages, like the 2002, makes me have very high expectations for the 2015.

2015 Chevillon Nuits St. Georges VV
Burghound: "An elegant, pure and complex nose consists of notes of plum, earth and background hints of the sauvage. There is really lovely detail to the sleek, delicious and solidly complex and concentrated middle weight flavors that are shaped by ripe tannins on the moderately firm, balanced and lingering finale. This is definitely Nuits in character but it's an elegant Nuits."
