In Top Form - Long Haul Burgundy
2013 Chevillon Nuits-St-George
1er Cru Les Vaucrains

The 1er Cru Vaucrains is one of the gems in the Chevillon stable.

There are few producers who I hold in as high regard as Chevillon. From Bourgogne Rouge on up, Chevillon's line-up goes from strength to strength.

They are also some of the most honest, terroir-specific wines I know. In 2013, this is amplified. The 2013 Vaucrains is stunning.

Chevillon's Vaucrains comes from 80 year old vines. The site produces powerful, incredibly deep, mineral and savage wines. The way Vaucrains ages is no joke - it can reach its 20th birthday without breaking a sweat.

The 2013 is an archetypal version of Vaucrains. It's intensely structured and profoundly dense in its minerality and dark fruits. I really like Burghound's note: "The domaine almost never misses with this wine and the 2013 is potentially great." I'm completely comfortable placing a wager on its greatness.

Chevillon is a pillar of our Burgundy program because of its consistency, honesty, ageworthiness and value. The 2013 Vaucrains shows Chevillon in top form.
