Insane Pricing: 09 Numanthia

"Exceptional symmetry and focus."
2009 Numanthia
Lowest Price in the Nation

Just in time for fall, I'm happy to offer 2009 Numanthia at the lowest price in the nation.

It's a wine of extraordinary power and yet, it's shocking how it carries that power.

It's always fun to share Numanthia with my friends who have "classic" palates. This is a rich, blanketing wine from grapes that have basked in the Spanish sun, it's the detail and balance it offers that really turns heads.

And that's before I mention the price. I have to say that I'm completely taken back by how much value Numanthia offers. This is an elite wine that consistently competes with bottles that cost 3-4 times more.

Numanthia delivers off the charts quality-price ratio.

The just released 2009 Numanthia boasts rich, sun-baked dark fruit, a detailed spectrum of flavors that glides from cocoa on entry, to leather and tobacco through the mid-palate and finishes with roasted stones, all delivered in a seamless package. Beyond all the specifics, though, is the incredible harmony. The Wine Advocate's Neal Martin is right to focus on the "exceptional symmetry and focus."

There is no denying the quality of the winemaking from Eguren. The foundation is as simple as it is essential: Great vineyards, low yields and careful winemaking. The Eguren family founded the estate in 1998 and immediately put the obscure region of Toro on the map. And the quality has only increased since.

In my personal cellar, I have bottles of Numanthia going back to the inaugural 1998 vintage and the wines have aged very, very well as evidenced by the recent blind staff tasting.

As we prepare to watch the leaves change and temperatures drop, the 09 Numanthia is the perfect bottle to have around. It's the perfect thing to pair with hearty fall and winter foods.

If you're looking for maximum value and a wine of full-throttle intensity, there may be no better example. There's only one thing left to say: stock up.
