"It belongs among Chablis's top half-dozen domaines." -Part Two:
2022 Bessin-Tremblay Chablis VV

Posted by Ian McFadden

A couple weeks ago, we offered Bessin-Tremblay's 2022 Valmur.

Romain Bessin is making some of our favorite Chablis.

It seemed like offering the Chablis VV was a perfect follow up to our Valmur offering. This is one of the few estates that shines from the Grand Cru to the villages level. It makes clear just how careful the winemaking is here.

Bessin-Tremblay's Chablis Vieilles Vignes is one of the region's best values. It really showcases how their style of Chablis captures your attention with a combination of honesty, polish, and intensity.

The 2022 Chablis VV is deeply concentrated with a mineral-laden profile. There's a textural imprint of chalk and a beautiful saline streak. All of this is backed up by currents of citrus.

For many years, Bessin has been an insider wine quietly bought by fans of classic Chablis. Around five years ago, that ended. The wines blew up and became mentioned in the same breath as the region's luminaries.

The interest is certainly deserved, but it has made finding the wine in decent quantities really challenging. This is a modest parcel that's easy to imagine selling quickly.
