I left this off Friday's Champagne list because I felt that it demanded its own stage.

For many years, Comtes de Champagne has been one of our favorite Champagnes. We have enjoyed it in its youth and have been blown away by bottles with decades of age on them.
I'm very happy to have landed this very modest parcel of 2013 Comtes de Champagne Three-Liters. Three liters of Comtes are extremely rare. Once these are gone, that's it.
This is simply a great vintage for one of the best and most reliable champagnes around.
The 2013 vintage in Champagne is one of our favorites in the past couple of decades. It was a cool, throw-back vintage with many growers harvesting in October, which is very late by recent standards. The champagnes from this year possess so much poise and finesse.
In 2013, Comtes de Champagne has a beautiful incisive elegance with loads of silky texture and refinement. The wine is a study in nuance and detail.
This is an absolutely thrilling Comtes de Champagne. Given the wine's verve and depth, we expect it to age gloriously in three-liters.
