"It's no secret that Lamy has been on a roll"
2017 Lamy St. Aubin La Princée

Posted by Ian McFadden

"It's no secret that Lamy has been on a roll the last 5-ish+ years and 2017 will do nothing except enhance that reputation." - Burghound

As the Burghound quote makes clear, Lamy is at the height of his powers.

Lamy's holdings in St. Aubin make up the heart and soul of the estate. They have holdings in all of the top sites - Chatenière, En Remilly, and Les Murgers des Dents de Chien. However, Lamy also has holdings in fascinating sites throughout the village of St. Aubin. No producer's lineup offers such an exploration of the St. Aubin.

Today, we focus on one of the most blazingly mineral of Lamy's lineup, the La Princée.

La Princée thrives on a jagged, stony mineral with a very exciting tensile quality. It offers up gorgeous bright citrus and floral notes. The tactile mineral quality is very distinctive and very compelling.

The 2017 La Princée is a study of radiance and snap. The vintage is known both for its clarity and balance. La Princée boasts these qualities in spades. It's very finely calibrated with an intricate weave of minerality.

La Princée is always a bottle that punches above its weight class. The 2017 is a really impressive example of the wine. I'm a big fan of La Princée and the 2017 highlights its thrilling chiseled personality.

Burghound: "There is interesting Chablis-like nuances of iodine and quinine present on the more citrus-inflected nose of lemongrass and acacia blossom. There is a bit more size and weight to the rich and nicely textured flavors that also exude a subtle bead of minerality before concluding in a dry and clean if mildly rustic finale."
